The Pièces à pédale are a constellation of independent pieces that resonate with each other, based on the same principle of doubling the voice and using the same device, the foot-switch, a simple electroacoustic device reduced to its essentials.
It's a constellation of pieces that have in common an interest in the doubling of the voice and the use of a simple electro-acoustic device reduced to the essentials: a pedal.
Alessandro Bosetti is a composer who likes to explore the paradoxes of the relationship between natural languages and music. He pays particular attention to the "everyday" voice, often drawing inspiration from conversations, interviews, translation games and misunderstandings. After writing three solos for instrumentalist/speaking subject, he met, at Athénor's invitation, researchers in mathematics and logic from the University of Nantes. Their research and experimentation resulted in a duet for musician and researcher, and a chamber opera for three musicians and four researchers in modulated conversation.
Les Pièces à pédale is simplicity born of complexity resolved. It's for those who love the sound of life, stories with no head or tail, the chatter of the street, the world apprehended as a polyphonic space.
