ARCo - Art, Research and Creation opus 2023, the bi-national Franco-Austrian academy dedicated to international musical creation, is back in Marseille from July 7 to 16!
Based on a rotation principle, after Marseille in 2021 and Salzburg in 2022, ARCo is hosted by GMEM at the Friche Belle de Mai.

What is ARCo?
It's an opportunity for 12 young composers, 2 string quartets, 6 singers and an assistant conductor from all over the world to take part in a week of workshops with renowned composer, singer and musician coaches.

The week will be punctuated by several concerts at the Friche la Belle de Mai, giving the academy a festival dimension...
At the end of the week, concerts featuring works by student composers specifically created for the occasion will be performed by the ensembles Multilatérale, Métaboles and the Tana quartet.
Recitals giving students, singers and string quartets the opportunity to perform works by today's composers.
It all kicks off in style with an opening concert and a touring concert at Friche La Belle de Mai, where experienced ensembles and quartets perform major pieces of contemporary music.

Get ready for a creative and musical experience with ARCo!

-

Created in 2019 by composers Yann Robin, Henry Fourès and Elisabeth Gutjahr, it is aimed at the new generation of female composers, composers and performers, and aims to guide them in their training and support them in their professional integration.
The result of collaboration between the Mozarteum University of Salzburg in Austria, the GMEM and the ensembles Multilatérale, Métaboles and quatuor Tana, it takes place alternately in Salzburg and Marseille.

The 2023 edition will take place from July 7 to 16, 2023 at the GMEM, and will offer 12 carefully selected young composers, 2 string quartets, 6 singers and an assistant conductor, training of excellence alongside an expert teaching team with varied aesthetics.

In total immersion, they will benefit from the teaching of Francesco Filidei, Henry Fourès, Elisabeth Gutjahr, Sarah Nemtsov, Valérie Philippin, Eva Reiter, Yann Robin and Christian Sebille.
Contributing to this creative effervescence, musicians from the Tana quartet and soloists from the Multilatérale and Métaboles ensembles, directed by Léo Warynski, will accompany the students and work hand in hand with them, placing cooperation at the heart of the exchanges.

To make the experience even richer, several concerts will be held throughout the academy and will be offered to all audiences. As a fervent defender of contemporary repertoire and creation, ARCo proposes a varied program combining major existing works and creations by the trainees, ensembles and artists present.

During this meeting time, transmission, exchange and sharing are at the center of the relationships and spread among all the participants: ARCo stimulates a social ebullition charged with inventiveness and becomes a fertile ground for experimentation and creation.
