GMEM is partnering with the Phonurgia Nova Awards for its 30th edition!
International Competition for Radio and Sound Creation

5 days of listening (3 days in Penvénan + 2 days in Marseille), 27 hours of creative work, 51 sound pieces that redefine the art of radio.

The Phonurgia Nova Awards are an observatory of emerging sound creation. 

51 works will be presented in exceptional listening conditions: the works will be compared, discussed, and analyzed by those who champion them—composers, producers, programmers, essayists, and critics. The jury will deliberate in public and in the presence of the artists during a two-day listening marathon, after which it will award the prizes and creative residencies.

The screening will be preceded by a brief introduction to the digitization of the Paranthoën collection (more than 7,000 previously unpublished tapes), a project coordinated by Bastien Lambert on behalf of the Côtes d’Armor Departmental Archives, in partnership with Logelloù in Penvénan.

In April 2018, Bastien Lambert met Claude Giovannetti, a radio producer and Yann Paranthoën’s partner. Together, they explored the magnetic tapes recorded by Yann Paranthoën between 1987 and 2004 in Cap Corse. A total of 111 magnetic tapes. These tapes offer not only glimpses into life at Cap Corse, but also a unique approach to radio. Here, the focus is not on “covering a topic” but rather on exploring “radio expression” through impressions, intuitions, encounters, and chance.
