Micro-Waves is an improvised tête à tête between wave player Nathalie Forget and composer and electro musician ErikM - a big gap under tension between two electronic lutheries that almost a century separates: the ondes Martenot, the first French electronic instrument created by Maurice Martenot in 1928 and more modestly Idiosyncrasy, a system conceptualized by ErikM and completed by Charles Bascou at GMEM in 2013.
Symbols of unheard of and modernity at their creation, the ondes Martenot are characterized by their reverberated or galvanized sonorities, of which the best known, close to the sinusoid, evokes voices "from elsewhere". Specialist of this instrument, Nathalie Forget interacts with her partner ErikM who transforms in real time the original samples of the waves and arranges them with granular or phonographic personal sounds.
The Micro-Waves project thus participates in the creation of a radically new repertoire for this instrument.

ErikM (FR)
ErikM is a French sound artist, improviser and composer, who, since his early experience in the visual and plastic arts, has taken the risk of escaping any attempt at hasty categorization. Very quickly considered as a virtuoso of electronic devices and sound arts (1994), ErikM crosses the worlds-systems called "independent", "institutional" and territories (France - International). He develops an openly prospective approach to the technological medium. He conceives acousmatic works or composes mixed music for instrumental ensembles. He collaborates with Luc Ferrari, Christian Marclay, Thurston Moore, Mathilde Monnier, FM Einheit..., and composes transversal works which constitute a singular kaleidoscopic vision and put in tension the intimate and the political, the popular and the learned.
Nathalie Forget (FR)
Nathalie Forget was unanimously awarded the first prize in ondes Martenot at the CNSM of Paris (class of Valérie Hartmann-Claverie). She also holds a master's degree in philosophy of music on Olivier Messiaen and a master's degree in visual arts. She has performed in Europe, as well as in the United States and Mexico under the direction of conductors such as Hans Zender, Peter Rundel, Ilan Volkov, Daniel Kawka, Simone Young, Sylvain Cambreling, Heinz Holliger, Reinbert de Leeuw, Kent Nagano, Pierre Boulez, Myung Wung Chung, and the London Sinfonietta, the Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra, the Nederlandse Opera, the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, the OCBA of Mexico, the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden and Freiburg, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France... She has performed at festivals such as the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, the Messiaen Festival in La Meije and several times at the BBC Proms in London. She is an interpreter of major works for ondes (Messiaen, Honegger, Milhaud, Varèse, Murail, Jolivet, Koechlin, Scelsi...); she is also very invested in contemporary music, improvisation and rock music (Ensemble Itinéraire, Les Musiques à ouïr, collective WARN!NG, Faust, Radiohead, Ulan Bator...) and the creation of a radically new repertoire for this instrument. Since 2016, she is a professor of ondes Martenot at the CNSM of Paris. On her artistic work was published the recent book by Eric Valentin, L'insurrection de la douceur, les performances musicales de Nathalie Forget (L'Harmattan, 2020).
