The aim of this seminar is to analyze the general concepts of the film & music relationship.
This relationship gives particular importance to musical and sound composition for experimental films.
The pedagogical approach will be based on the analysis of the compositional tools employed, which will be studied along two main axes:
- the technological dimension of musical/sound composition for experimental cinema;
- the extra-musical analysis of the themes addressed in the films.
Articulation of the seminar
The seminar will be structured around two types of sessions:
The first two sessions will be two screenings (each lasting 90 minutes) showing different types of experimental films, and will be accompanied by an explanation.
The next sessions will be practical sessions, aimed at guiding participants in the electroacoustic composition of several experimental short films, subsequently created during a restitution in June 2026.
This seminar is open to all Platform partners.
Its content is tailored to the needs of students from the various institutions.
