Residency for creation and research.
The Second Selfproject exploresthe concept of the double through works in which instrument, performer, and technology interact in a play of mirrors and reciprocal transformations. By drawing on various media—sound synthesis, sampling, DIY electronics, and facial recognition—this program brings together works from the repertoire (John Cage, Stefan Prins, Tristan Murail, Daniel Zea) with the world premiere of a new piece composed by Nicolas Roulive for MIDI keyboard and live electronics.

Juliette Dournaud and Nicolas Roulive metin 2020 while studying at the Geneva University of Music. Very quickly, an artistic bond developed between them centered on contemporary music, their passion for keyboard instruments, and electronic music. In 2023, they created their first show, *it’s not an electronic problem*, which they presented on a tour of Switzerland and which included the Swiss premiere of the piece*hypermisscommunicativesystem*, composed by Nicolas.
In January 2025, they continued their collaboration as part of OperaLab.ch with the creation of the contemporary opera*Dernière expédition au pays des merveilles*, for which Nicolas wrote the music and Juliette played several keyboard instruments.
Building on their artistic exploration, they founded HeavySecond, dedicated to sonic experimentation with keyboards and electronics. Their next show, *Second Self*, willtour Switzerland in November 2026.
