Creative residency.
Saxophonist Joshua Hyde and composer Francisco Uberto are developing a program combining saxophone and electronic devices. In particular, they are working on their piece Infused 1.02e+6ms, a multimedia work in which camera movements modify the sound, while instrumental playing influences the image, creating a veritable audiovisual dialogue.
They are also continuing to refine Joshua Hyde's Vertical Horizons 4: Flock, an immersive piece that plays on the perception of time, as well as Tomislav Oliver's Percée de lumière, centered on interactions between feedback and video. Finally, they revisit Paradise, inspired by a continuous recording made at an exhibition in Tokyo.
The whole project aims to optimize the compositions and electronic devices, including the Max/MSP patch, with a view to a fully accomplished version.
Francisco Uberto
Composer
Francisco Uberto is a multimedia artist who explores the digital dimensions of video and sound with a direct approach, guided by the impulse of instinct and the thirst for imagination. He moves forward without filters: what counts are the results, the precision of the forms and the intensity of the artistic experiences.
Trained in composition in Argentina (UNC), France (CNSMD Paris, IRCAM) and Switzerland (ICST, ZHdK). Since 2012, his work has been supported by leading institutions in Europe (Fondation de France, Fondation Meyer, SACEM) and Argentina (FNA, Ministry of Culture).
Performed by international ensembles, his music unfolds in intimate settings as well as orchestral formats. Residencies at Casa de Velázquez (Spain), Ibermúsicas, Cité des Arts and Couvent des Récollets in Paris have marked various stages in his career.
Based in Paris, he is now developing his projects internationally as an independent composer. He is also a doctoral student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (HfMT), within the ARTILACS research project attached to the Ligeti Zentrum, where he explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, image and sound, from a resolutely contemporary perspective.
