"How would a voice sound if it were singing in the interior acoustic space of a musical instrument?" - Alberto Posadas
The composer explores the idea of nomadism in his work Voces Nómadas (premiered 2017).
Around space, voice and words, time makes its appearance, that of the refugee, a forced nomad of our time.
To complete the sound journey, Horae quidem cedunt by Michel Petrossian, "a dense and powerful work for twelve a cappella voices. A composition that uses repetitiveness to symbolize the steamroller of time passing, of the seasons that follow one another. The voices capture us and take us on a whirling journey. - Michel Egea

Musicatreize
ensemble
Musicatreize was created in Marseille in 1987 by Roland Hayrabedian. Musicatreize is an ensemble of variable geometry that explores the universe of vocality (a cappella or with accompaniment) with works by Maurice Ohana, Felix Ibarrondo, Edith Canat de Chizy, Zad Moultaka, Philippe Gouttenoire... but also instrumental works such as Maurice Ohana's Sundown dances, Olli Kortekangas' Written on Wind and Water or Ligeti's Kammerkonzert and repertoire for choir and orchestra such as Bach's Magnificat, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms or Jean-Louis Florentz's Magnificat-Antiphone With a cohesion and a very recognizable sound, this ensemble is a privileged instrument for creation. Musicatreize has initiated nearly 150 new works. Roland Hayrabedian's artistic choices are oriented towards long-term work with composers and a series of creations(Les Sept Contes, Odyssée dans l'espace, Trois Cantates policières). Open to teaching and amateur practice, Musicatreize often lends itself to master classes and major creation projects with non-professional ensembles.
With a rich, commented and distinguished discography, in 2007 Musicatreize obtained a Victoire de la Musique Classique - category Ensemble of the Year. The achievement of 30 years in the service of creation has seen the ensemble labeled in 2017 "National Company with international influence" by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
Musicatreize is subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication - DRAC PACA, the City of Marseille, the General Council of Bouches-du-Rhône, the Regional Council Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It receives the support of the Sacem and the SPEDIDAM. He is a member of the Tenso, Fevis and Profedim networks.
Alberto Posadas
composer
Born in 1967 in Valladolid (Spain), Alberto Posadas began his musical studies in his native city and continued them in Madrid. In 1988 he met Francisco Guerrero, with whom he studied composition and whom he considers his true teacher, and with whom he explored new musical forms through the use of techniques such as mathematical combinatorics and fractal theory. However, self-determination and the constant quest for the integration of aesthetics into these mathematical processes lead the composer to seek other models for composition, such as the transposition of architectural spaces into music, the application of techniques from topology and painting in relation to perspective, or the exploration of the acoustic phenomena of musical instruments at a microscopic level. He also develops electroacoustic music, in a very personal way, through several projects such as Liturgia de silencio (1995), Snefru or Versa est in luctum (2002). His interest in the implication of movement in the electronic transformation of sound led him to participate in a multidisciplinary project set up by Ircam, created in 2009. In 2003, Alberto Posadas was selected by the reading committee of Ircam and the Ensemble Intercontemporain and, in 2006, he received a grant from the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid which allowed him to carry out, with Andrès Gomis, a research project on new techniques of playing the bass saxophone and their application in composition. Alberto Posadas' output includes symphonic music, choral works, chamber music, solo pieces and music with electronics. Many of his works have been commissioned by the most important international festivals and musicians such as Esteban Algora, Andrès Gomis, Alexis Descharmes and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. The year 1993 marked the beginning of his international career; his pieces were premiered by ensembles and orchestras such as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Itinéraire, Court-Circuit, the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, the Arditti Quartet, the Diotima Quartet, the Orchestre National de France and the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1991 Alberto Posadas has been professor of analysis, harmony and composition at the Mahadahonda Conservatory of Music in Madrid and is a regular guest lecturer in contemporary music courses.
Michel Petrossian
composer
From the beginning of his studies at the CNSM in Paris, Michel Petrossian received commissions and benefited from artistic residencies. Concerned with making the music of his time known, he co-founded the Cairn ensemble, and his works are broadcast on France Musique and France Culture.
He is passionate about ancient civilizations and studies a dozen languages related to them. He holds a Master's degree in Classics from the Sorbonne, teaches Biblical Hebrew at the Ecole des Langues et des Civilisations Anciennes, and spends a year at the French Archaeological School in Jerusalem, where field studies lead him to take an interest in the music of the ancient Near East. He travels extensively in countries related to ancient history and invests composition in a new way. His piano concerto In the Wake of Ea, inspired by a Babylonian tablet, won the Queen Elisabeth International Grand Prize for Composition.
He then received important requests: commissioned by the AGBU, Ciel à vif for choir, soloists and orchestra was premiered at the Théâtre du Chatelet under the direction of Alain Altinoglu.
"Horae quidem cedunt..." for 12 solo voices was commissioned by the Musicatreize ensemble and premiered at the Festival of Aix en Provence. Commissioned by the State, "Amours sidoniennes" which is inspired by two possible translations of a Greek inscription is created at the Grand Théâtre de Provence. The University of Michigan chose him to represent the European continent in a project where one composer per continent was solicited. A chamber music work was commissioned and premiered at Zipper Hall in Los Angeles, followed by a residency and a European premiere at the Queen Elisabeth Chapel in Belgium.
Also interested in the links between music and image, Michel Petrossian responded to Robert Guédiguian's request to produce the film "Bravo, virtuose!" and co-wrote the music with jazzman Tigran Hamasyan.
Michel Petrossian maintains a privileged relationship with several musicians of international dimension who defend his music, such as Xavier Phillips, Rémi Geniet, Roland Hayrabédian, etc. .... For example, pianist Andrew Tyson has included his work "The Fiery Struggle of Green and Gold" for piano in his recitals throughout the world. The American premiere of this work at Carnegie Hall was particularly noteworthy, and New York Times critic Anthony Tommasini wrote: "Composer Michel Petrossian came to the premiere of his fantastic work...which, like Dutilleux's preludes, has such improvisational qualities and liveliness that Skriabin's third sonata, though so furious, seems almost homogeneous and wise in comparison."
The composer's current projects include an oratorio with a libretto by Laurent Gaudé, for the Maîtrise de Radio France and the Musicatreize ensemble, a string quartet for a festival in Los Angeles, and a concerto for cello and orchestra in London.
Roland Hayrabedian
musical director, artistic director
Roland Hayrabedian created the Choeur Contemporain in 1978 and Musicatreize in 1987. Throughout his career, he has conducted numerous orchestral and vocal groups (the Choir and the Choir School of Radio France, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, the National Orchestra of Lorraine, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Marseille, the Regional Orchestra of Avignon, the Regional Orchestra of Cannes, the National Choir of Ireland, the Nederlands Kamerkoor....) and collaborated with the Percussions de Strasbourg, Musique Vivante, Musique Oblique, 2e2m, TM+, the Itinéraire ensemble... With Musicatreize, the central axis remains the work with today's composers: Edith Canat, de Chizy, Zad Moultaka, Oscar Strasnoy, Michel Petrossian, Philippe Schoeller, Alexandros Markeas... Roland Hayrabedian's name is closely linked to that of Maurice Ohana, a composer of whom he is one of the most faithful interpreters and of whom he has recorded almost all the vocal works. Attracted by stage music, he collaborates with many directors and choreographers such as Jeanne Debost, Thierry Thieu Niang, Sybille Wilson, Philippe Carbonneaux... From 2002 to 2005, he was musical director of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra, with whom he still collaborates. From 2006 to 2011, he took part in the Contemporary Vocal Academy of the Festival of Aix-en-Provence. He has made more than 30 recordings under his direction, several of which have received exceptional awards. He also teaches conducting at the CRR of Marseille since 1984, conducting vocal and instrumental ensembles at the Institut d'Enseignement Supérieur de la Musique (IESM) of Aix-en-Provence and devotes himself to the improvement of young choral and orchestral conductors through masterclasses.
