Research and creation residency.
"Murmuration " is a concert that uses the performance space as an instrument, employing an aesthetic based on subtle, even imperceptible sounds, encouraging the audience to listen intently and engage closely with their surroundings.
The installation consists of 32 striking objects, all identical, which directly set the space in motion. Each object consists of an LED bulb and a striker that strikes the surface to which the object is attached. The objects strike the walls, ceiling, and architectural elements, briefly illuminating them at the moment of impact.
Each sound is carefully selected during a period of exploration of the spaces involved, with the aim of subtly highlighting the space and its hidden sonic potential.

Olivier Maurel
Percussionist
Olivier Maurel trained at the conservatories of Rennes, Saint-Malo, and Strasbourg, and after completing a classical program, he was awarded the Interregional Superior Prize. Alongside his classical studies, he remained curious about all musical worlds. From Stockhausen to Radiohead, from hardtech to cumbia, he explored practices and cultures and wove them into his experimental repertoire. Meanwhile, his appetite for electronic music drove him to program game interfaces that he integrated into his setups. He shares his discoveries through performance and composition, receiving, offering, and transforming. He has had the opportunity to premiere works by Samuel Andreyev, Lara Morciano, Aurélien Dumont, Raphael Cendo, Francesco Filidei (…), and to work with Helmut Lachenmann, Peter Eötvös, Alberto Posada, Kaija Saariaho, Clara Ianotta (…). In 2010, he founded the ensemble HANATSUmiroir with Ayako Okubo and has since served as its artistic director and percussionist alongside her.
He performs regularly with the ensemble Linea and the Percussions de Strasbourg, and collaborates on an ad hoc basis with other groups and in other artistic fields (improvised music, theater, dance...).
Simon Louche and Ulysse Gohin
Composer and Visual Artist, Sound Artist
Simon and Ulysse form a duo that blends their respective artistic practices. Since 2023, they have been working on projects that combine electroacoustics, sound installation, and contemporary music. The duo’s academic background lies at the intersection of visual arts (HEAR, Olivier de Serres) and music (CRR de Strasbourg, CNSMD de Lyon). Their projects have previously received financial support from the MMC (Maison de la Musique Contemporaine) and the Grand Est region. They established themselves by creating their association “Murmuration,” which aims to promote the hybridization of contemporary music and multimedia arts. They seek to bring today’s music out of its comfort zone by performing in unusual venues, with the goal of both creating sound installations in situ and presenting their work to diverse audiences.
