What does it mean to follow a sound? To carry it? To exchange it as if it were an object—a gift, a talisman?

This piece invites the audience to move through a space shared with sounds that can be followed or carried along, and which in turn follow us.
Through simple gestures, participants create a choreography of sounds and movements. A unified, immaterial, and spatialized soundscape emerges, constantly reconfiguring itself according to the spectators’ positions and their interactions. 

The installation consists of a set of mobile speakers designed to be carried and passed from person to person. The overall form evolves like a unique, mobile sound sculpture, which each participant helps bring to life by carrying it and walking through it. The work explores trust and closeness: Can we accept something from another person? Are we willing to be followed by someone without turning around? Or, conversely, to follow someone or something of which we perceive only the outlines? Are we capable of receiving what is offered to us? And if we get too close, don’t we risk making what was offered to us—as well as the very person who offered it—disappear? A few simple rules of the game (following someone, allowing oneself to be followed without turning around, offering something, allowing oneself to be offered something) generate a continuous flow of encounters, crossings, and exchanges. 

The title *Metafora* refers to the etymology of the Greek word *μεταφορά* (metaphorá), meaning “to transport.”
