Centered on a practical and reflective approach, the introductory workshops offer elementary and middle school students the chance to discover a wide range of sound practices. Offering a rich introduction to the processes of composition and improvisation, these workshops combine practical experimentation with contemporary production techniques.
This year, these workshops are led by sound artist Gaëtan Parseihian. By sharing his approach to electroacoustic composition, introducing students to digital tools, sound recording and arranging, students are immersed in his world of sound.
These workshops take place over 3 hours and are divided into three stages:
- A first stage of presentation and listening to different pieces,
- A second stage of initiation to the practice of manipulating and recording sound objects,
- A third stage of creation and interpretation of these sounds.
By manipulating sound objects, students are actively involved in the creative process: they have the opportunity to take sound recordings, then organize them in software. Through this exploration, they can grasp a variety of practices and discover new ways of generating and transforming sound.
The aim of these workshops is to guide students through a collective, creative process, enabling them to explore a wide range of contemporary, electroacoustic and experimental music.
Through this immersion, they develop both their artistic sensibility and their listening skills, while discovering the vast field of creative music practices.

Sound artist
Gaëtan Parseihian is a sound artist and composer of electroacoustic music. He is interested in the hybridization process between nature and technology. In 2006, he took part in the creation of Brane Project, a structure that works on the spatialization of sound and within which he composes in multiphonic form. He developed his writing at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental (CRD) in Pantin, then at the Cité de la Musique in Marseille, and performs his pieces on a variety of multicasting devices. At the same time, he works as an acoustics researcher, focusing on sound perception, human/machine interfaces, spatialization techniques and the perception of sound in space. He is an associate artist at the deletere laboratories in Marseille.
