Residency in sound composition and dramaturgical research.
Le Ventre et la Nuit is Nolwenn Peterschmitt's next piece. A ritualized dance performance revolving around the cycles of Life / Death / Life, she will be in hand-to-hand combat with a Monster.
With this creation, she continues her research into the figure of "Saint Guy", patron saint of epilepsy, madness and dancing mania.
In Le Ventre et la Nuit, the performer wishes to put herself to the test of possession and dispossession, including in this metamorphic rite a tribute to Guy, her uncle who died during her previous creation.
"Groupe Crisis was born in 2017 in Marseille. Our pieces have very different forms but all come to question performance and the stage as a trembling, political, poetic and relational space. For us, the stage is one of the possible places where relationships of domination are played out and thwarted, collective unconsciousness is revealed and reparations and re-envisionings are put in place.
Our latest piece, UNRUHE, is a 5-step permissive rite that plays at sunset, created from work on the dance of Saint Guy, a dance epidemic that appeared in Strasbourg in 1518. Since 2023, Groupe Crisis has also partnered with Cie De Ceux Qui on the D'où la lumière jaillit project, an immersion of three female dancers in the psychiatric wing of Bamako's Point G hospital.
For Nolwenn Peterschmitt, working on stage is a space of permissiveness, metamorphosis and revelation, notably through bringing to body, word and life the multiple beings that make us up."
