Residency to create an immersive experience through spatialized sound and gestural interaction.
Kǎn is the symbol for water in Feng Shui, the Chinese philosophy of the relationship between man and nature. Water is a component of the human being, and the world is connected by it. Yet pollution and drought have unbalanced the relationship between man and water.
Yellow Wasabi proposes to use transdisciplinary methods, arts and sciences, to reconnect human and water through an interactive audiovisual experience. Yellow Wasabi plays the Guzheng, the traditional Chinese harp, and reproduces the gesture of water in Qigong, captured by an intelligent motion tracker. The resonant sound will be arranged by an underwater recording in a musical composition process under Max/MSP.
Yellow Wasabi will generate an interactive 3D neural network projection from the soundscape of the Guzheng and the water, creating an immersive space. The audience will be able to connect to the water via Wi-Fi interaction and revisit their relationship with it. The public will be aware that their behavior affects the water, which will be reflected in sound and musical variations. Only with an inclusive spirit can the relationship between man and water achieve harmony.

Composer and musician
Yellow Wasabi, a Paris-based evolutionary biologist and new media artist, combines science and art to investigate the human position in the digital industrial and ecological landscape. She uses computer programs and biological modules to innovate the Guzheng, the traditional Chinese harp; she shapes sound through AI motion capture and interactive projections. The noise of life is transformed into intangible fossils of cognition that resonate with the audience's emotional experience, improvising collectively to create an inclusive space.
Yellow Wasabi is artist-in-residence at GRAME and GMEM, Artzoyd Studios, La Générale, Theatre in the Palm in Greece and Schoenberg Society in Estonia, exhibited at Guan Shanyue Art Museum and Turku Art House, with support from Creative Europe and Culture Moves Europe. She is active in experimental music scenes, contemporary art spaces and scientific conferences.
