In 2016, a handful of musicians, a meeting, a sharing around improvisation, a desire and a pleasure to play together.
Grand8 was born. Grand8 came out of an emergency, to improvise, together, in a large ensemble, without a conductor.
Grand8 first worked, built its music, crossed its spaces, built its common, initiated its history.
Grand8 has grown to 17 musicians.

The ensemble is in residence at the GMEM all year round.
