Bagpipes, biniou, bombard and trélombarde... Erwan Keravec initiates a "cultured" quartet with a rich timbre and a powerful sound. Of these four instruments, only the Scottish bagpipes have a repertoire in contemporary music - largely thanks to Erwan Keravec. For the other three, the bombard, the biniou koz, the two historical instruments, and the trélombarde invented in the bagadoù (traditional Breton brass bands), SONNEURS is the beginning of a relationship to new writing.

Although musical creation often distinguishes between written and improvised music, Erwan Keravec sees these two schools as complementary. With this quartet, he offers a whole new field of expression for composers from these practices.

"The Scottish bagpiper is called a sonneur, a noble and beautiful word (...). When, at Erwan Keravec's call, bagpipes, biniou, bombard and trélombarde ring out, walls collapse and souls quiver, feeling the approach so exhilarating, so rare, of the unknown." - Les Inrocks, May 2017
