Rehearsal residency.
The Attacca Chamber Choir, directed by Sébastien Boin, brings together some thirty amateur singers with a passion for a cappella repertoire and musical creation.
Supported by the Arrizkoa association, created in 2023, its vocation is to bring to life the chamber choir repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day, set against new works specially commissioned from French and international composers.
This pronounced taste for musical creation also makes it a stimulating tool for young composers on the road to professionalism, coming from regional conservatories. It accompanies them in their first experiments with vocal music, while providing invaluable advice on writing specifically for choir, which is often overlooked by composers due to a lack of opportunities during their studies.
Attacca is essentially made up of singer-readers, and regularly welcomes young musicians from Aix-Marseille University and local conservatories to its ranks. In this way, Attacca can help extend the musical studies undertaken in these establishments.
The choir's first concerts will feature a cappella repertoire (Francis Poulenc, Bohuslav Martinů, Germaine Tailleferre, Luciano Berio, with two world premieres by Alexandros Markeas and Félix Ibarrondo), as well as recent works for choir and instrumental ensemble mounted in partnership with Ensemble C Barré (Mikel Urquiza, Thomas Keck).

Artistic and musical director
Sébastien Boin, born in 1984, began his musical training with classical guitar in the classes of Philippe Azoulay and Alexandre Boulanger. At the CNR de Marseille, he trained in chamber music and composition before turning resolutely towards conducting. He graduated from the Conservatoire in 2007 with a unanimous first prize in Roland Hayrabedian's conducting class.
He continued his studies by entering Musicology at the Sorbonne (Paris IV), while completing his training in several performance classes and conducting projects organized by ARIAM Île-de-France.
He is one of a new generation of conductors with a passion for musical creation, who have resolutely forged their own ensemble in their own image. In 2006, he founded the instrumental ensemble C Barré, dedicated to musical creation, with which he experiments with the dual responsibilities of artistic and musical direction. With a passion for both instrumental and vocal music, he has a dual career as orchestra and choir conductor. He has worked with the Chœur de Radio France, the Orchestre Régional d'Avignon-Provence and the Orchestre Régional de Basse Normandie. In 2016, he was invited by the Festival d'Aix to conduct Ana Sokolovic's opera Svadba during a three-year international tour. He currently teaches choral conducting at the CFMI in Aix-en-Provence and orchestral conducting at the Conservatoire de Marseille.
