Recording residence.
A reflection on collective organization.
Birds is an action to work together, to reinforce and experience the strength of the collective, against the backdrop of animal sensory intelligence in the image of bird flight.
This proposal is designed for large spaces - a rooftop terrace, a village square, a field, a large theater stage, a park, a particular architecture set to a musical creation by Patrick Marcland.
A double entry creation:
- Birds Trio (creation 2025) conceived for three dancers (duration: 30 min.)
- Birds Murmuration (creation 2025) an educational variation, the three performers will work with a group of amateur dancers to create a collective version (duration: 55 min.).

Laurence Marthouret
Choreographer, teacher
Her artistic approach is a perpetual exploration of the body and its perceptions. She questions and reflects on the human position in the world. She uses technology and images to immerse the body in specific environments.
Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Laurence studied Laban movement writing with Jacqueline Challet-Haas. She studied the Laban-Bartenieff movement analysis technique with Marie-Christine Gheorghiu, with whom she collaborated for several years.
Aware of the importance of somatic practices in dancers' careers, she trained with Véra Orlock in Body Mind Centering and Release Technic with members of the Trisha Brown Dance Company: Greg Lara, Shelley Center and Irène Ultman.
She then worked as a performer in Myriam Gourfink's company, collaborating with computer scientist Frédéric Voisin on the creation of LOL, a choreographic composition software based on Laban movement notation. In 2001, she became an associate researcher at ACI Jeunes Chercheurs-Espaces Sonores, Centre de recherche en informatique et création musicale (CICM) at the University of Paris VIII, working with Anne Sedes on Espaces Sonores interactive with dance movement and sound visualization.
Between 1999 and 2005, she studied choreographic composition at the Centre de Recherche et Composition Chorégraphique de l'Abbaye de Royaumont under the direction of Susan Buirge, and in 2005 was a prizewinner in the Grand Atelier chorégraphes-compositeurs de Voix Nouvelles.
The relationship between music and dance is a fundamental area of research in her practice. She has collaborated with a number of composers: Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber, Victoria Harmandjieva, Francesco Filidei, Anne Sedes, and it is with Patrick Marcland that she will work in particular on the reflection of a common writing style between dance and music.
