HYOID
Vocal ensemble
HYOID is a Brussels-based group of solo singers specializing in contemporary repertoire and transdisciplinary performances. Their innovative approach defies traditional concert formats and favors collaborations with artists of their generation. They perform a cappella, with instruments, electronics or tape, and take their name from the hyoid bone, essential to voice and breathing.
HYOID is internationally renowned, and has taken part in prestigious festivals and venues such as Manifeste in Paris, November Music in the Netherlands, and HCMF in the UK. Notable projects include creations by Jennifer Walshe and Luciano Berio, and collaborations with IRCAM and choreographers such as Benjamin Vandewalle. Residents of Bijloke's Muziekcentrum since 2020, they continue to innovate, notably with creations planned for 2024/2025, such as Wastories. Artistic direction is led by Fabienne Seveillac and Andreas Halling.
