You must have heard Beñat Achiary's Basque singing at least once in your life. There is no equivalent to this vocal expression, both telluric and celestial, which would have delighted the composer of Pierrot Lunaire. As for Carlo Rizzo, he expresses himself through frame drums of all kinds, from all regions, from all traditions. His virtuosity, especially on the polytimbral tambourine that he has developed, is beyond compare.

This is enough to make this concert unmissable, and this, without counting the intervention on the piano of the federating element of the trio, this surprising musician-composer, at the same time interpreter of classical tradition and musicologist all ground that is Henry Fourès, trained in medieval music as well as in piano, then in musical electronics. His eclecticism is mirrored in his teaching career, first as a professor of improvised music and medieval music history.

It is not surprising that the music proposed by the trio Henry Fourès, Beñat Achiary and Carlo Rizzo springs from a convergence between the traditions of the games and rhythms of the Basque language and song, the traditions of the drums on frame of the Italian south, India and North Africa, and the traditions of a writing for the piano. Something unheard of in perspective...
