Wastories spotlights a key figure in the European art scene: the Viennese composer Eva Reiter, who explores one of her favorite themes here—climate issues and recycling.
This musical theater production, initiated by the Brussels-based ensemble HYOID voices and based on a libretto by Berlin-based author Hannah Dübgen, brings together four voices, an electronic score, and video work by Antwerp-based photographer and videographer Koen Broos.
Fascinated by the issue of waste, the composer sees it not only as a cause for civic activism but also as the perfect material for bringing the concept of reuse to life on stage. By incorporating recycling into her compositional technique, she collects, processes, and reimagines the ideas contributed by her fellow students. The result of this remarkable collective effort is a multifaceted and poetic work.
