As part of the Propagations 2025 festival

For voice, clarinet, trumpet, double bass and electronics

Preferring the path to the journey, like an ode to wandering.

Mathilde Barthélémy, soprano and actress, examines our relationship with the landscape that surrounds us, the traces it leaves in our intimate histories and the ways in which we survey it.
With Espaces blancs, a project of sensitive, subjective cartographies, she aims to document the landscape's evolution, its crossing, its transformation and its disappearance, placing human beings, their wanderings and their stories at its heart.
To achieve this, she has chosen to work with composer Claudia Jane Scroccaro and visual artist and scenographer Nina Bonardi, and to explore the theme of breath, involving musicians at the crossroads of contemporary and improvised music.

Espaces blancs, halfway between a concert and a visual installation, aims to give voice to the intimate relationship we have with a landscape we've crossed, and the variations that affect it. Inspired by sensitive cartography and interviews conducted in the field, this musical form aims to record the moulting of a landscape, its transformation, its disappearance.
