ARCo - Art, Research and Creation opus 2025 - is a European academy dedicated to musical creation, with an international outlook. For some years now, ARCo has also been aimed at singers.
Like the composers, students are immersed in musical creation through workshops and personalized coaching provided by Valérie Philippin. The program focuses on vocal chamber music (spoken and sung voice) as well as technical, musical and improvisational work.
This recital is an opportunity for the students to present their work during the academy. Alongside Valérie Philippin, they offer an immersion in contemporary vocal languages, with improvisation practice and the study of pieces by Pascal Dusapin, Henry Fourès, Erine Gee, Oliver Knussen, Philippe Leroux, Valérie Philippin, Kaija Saariaho, as well as two young composers studying at the academy, Gaia Aloisi and Sarah Grace Graves.

Valérie Philippin
soprano
Valérie Philippin is a soprano committed to contemporary music, renowned for her mastery of contemporary and experimental repertoires. For over thirty years, she has collaborated with composers such as Georges Aperghis, Bernard Cavanna, Jean-Yves Bosseur, Jacques Rebotier and François Rossé, creating works as a soloist or with ensembles such as l'Itinéraire, Multilatérale, 2e2m and Les Métaboles. Her vocal work is based on in-depth research into language, improvisation, phonemes and the physicality of sound. She explores the links between writing and orality, between the sung voice and the spoken voice, at the crossroads of stage, sound poetry and performance. An active pedagogue, she teaches contemporary voice at several conservatories and academies in France and abroad, and leads projects combining transmission, creation and vocal innovation.
