Purpose of residency: Creation, research on interdisciplinary work, audio/video recording, post-production IA
The rosebud 2.0 project is an evolution of the piece rosebud (beta) resulting from the collaboration between composer Matthias Krüger and dancer Victor Virnot at Ircam in Paris in summer 2022: There, a dancer transforms himself into an instrumentalist using movement and contact sensors, giving birth to music generated in real time and expressed through his choreography.
At GMEM, we will develop a new, more elaborate version of this co-composition, perfecting the technology and refining the choreographic dimension and rhythmic writing. At the end of the residency, we will make an audio and video recording, the audio of which is intended for publication on CD/Streaming, thus proving a writing style that pre-supposes the choreographic while transcending it.
In post-production, we plan to create a video clip based on the extrapolation of the same principles, collaborating with digital artist Johann Baron Lanteigne who will exploit artificial intelligence to capture gestures and apply the data to a new visual language. This creates a cycle of interdependence between artistic disciplines, bringing us closer to a truly hybrid work in the truest sense of the word.
Furthermore, this process allows us to transcend the live performance, making it accessible online, while compensating for any loss of aura and presence in the video capture through AI processes.
