Emilie Škrijelj
Sound artist
Emilie Škrijelj explores the accordion in all its folds, using it as both a percussion instrument and a generator of electroacoustic material. Inspired by her research into turntables, modular synthesizers and field recording, she takes the accordion into the abstract territory of electronics.
Tom Malmendier
Percussionist
Tom Malmendier naturally sees improvisation as central to all his musical research. Since 2019, Emilie Škrijelj and Tom Malmendier have been developing projects linking sound and space with the OUATE company. Since 2020, they have been weaving the Presque île project, a series of small in situ sound forms created for the landscape and grouped together on a sound map. They also founded the label eux sæm, dedicated to improvised and experimental music, which brings together some of their current musical projects such as the duo Les Marquises, their trio with American rapper Mike Ladd and the performative sound installation project BRUINE with clarinettist Michael Thieke.
Otomo Yoshihide
Platinist
Founder of the historic band Ground Zero, Otomo Yoshihide is the most recognized artist in Japan's experimental music network. Guitarist, turntable player, composer and improviser, his music transcends the frameworks and categories designed to keep everything in its place. With over 150 discography references, Otomo is a tireless workhaholic, spearheading a whole generation of sound pioneers. I'm always halfway between cinema and music, between music and noise, between composition and improvisation. I float somewhere in the middle of it all, never knowing exactly where I stand. Perhaps that's what defines me best" Otomo Yoshihide.
