Contemporary works for plectrum orchestra & creations
by Raphaèle Biston and Raphaël Imbert

The Orchestre National à Plectre de France (ONAP) was created in 2007 on the initiative of the Confédération Musicale de France (CMF).
Composed of mandolins, mandolas, mandoloncellos, guitars and double basses, it gathers every two years, during one week, musicians from all over France.

This high-level ensemble welcomed in Marseille in 2013 on the occasion of the European Capital of Culture returns in 2022 for a week dedicated to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries with the Quintette à plectre de France and Sébastien Boin at the helm!

The program includes two creations: one by Raphaèle Biston, commissioned by the GMEM, and the other by Raphaël Imbert, current director of the Marseille Conservatory. Some of the great names in French music, such as Jean-Claude Petit, will accompany the major works of the original repertoire for plectrum orchestra composed by Elein Pakenham or Ricardo Sandoval. And, the icing on the cake, Vincent Beer-Demander's Concertino for plectrum quartet, entitled La Fanciulla, as a wink to the Italian evening of the day before.

This concert closes a week of training course of the ONAP co-organized with the Musical Confederation of France, hosted at the GMEM from 9 to 13 July 2022.
