Mobiles uses trumpets, flutes and toy instruments as acoustic starting points for an improvisational language that includes electronics in a sensitive and original way.
Using electronic sounds broadcast over Bluetooth speakers, synthesizers and portable samplers, Mobiles blurs the distinction between acoustic and electronic sounds, establishing hypnotic, flickering sonic illusions.
Oscillating between pre-established playing systems and instantaneous composition, Mobiles moves in time, swinging between flashbacks and fast forwards, bringing out a stasis teeming with details and fractures.
The word "mobile" evokes both the idea of cause and movement. By stripping musical expression down to its simplest formal expression, the Mobiles duo is part of a quasi-brutalist conception of improvisation, where the structural material is worth what it is, and in what it is immediately perceptible and recognizable by the listener.
In inventing their own improvisatory logics, Mobiles explore the idea of abstraction and closed, coherent systems, giving voice to music that is both playful and poetic.

Clément Merienne
Composer
Clément Merienne graduated from the CNSM in Paris in jazz and improvised music in 2020, and from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 2022. His interest in composing for small and large ensembles feeds his improvisations, in which he seeks to create evolving structures derived from soundscapes and a minimalist language. In his constant quest for openness, he frees himself from stylistic dogmas and barriers through the use of prepared piano, soundpainting and electronics. His interest in early and baroque music led him to train as a harpsichordist, both solo and in ensemble. He is a founding member of l'Autre Collectif, which brings together several groups in which he plays, including Cycles and Magnolia. He is also a pianist in several groups, including Kobon and Vera Desti.

Hector Léna-Schroll is a French trumpeter based in Paris. After a classical curriculum at the CRR de Grenoble, he turned to jazz and entered the CNSM de Paris in 2018, graduating in 2021. He directs and co-directs numerous projects (Magnolia, Les Mains Libres, Pétrole, Henri) and also plays as a side-man in France and abroad (Florian Lauer, Ève Risser, Paul Jarret, Stéphane Payen). In 2019, with five French and Norwegian musicians, he is founding l'Autre Collectif with the ambition of creating a European network of young jazz and improvised music musicians.
