Les pupitres de la Cayolle is a project of shared artistic creation initiated in 2017 and carried out in the territory of la Cayolle (located in the south of Marseille). This project, which works on the principle of the "orchestra desk", aims to bring together and unite several groups of local residents using musical practice. The objective being to lead to the creation of a musical tale presented this year at the opening of the festival Les Musiques 2019 at the Grand Plateau de la Friche la Belle de Mai.

In order to prepare this show, the year was organized in several work sessions with the different workshops composing the project:

The workshops

Throughout the year, instrumental practice workshops took place with speakers in the project's partner establishments at a rate of about 2 sessions per month:

The percussion workshop with the elementary school of the Calanques aimed to introduce a primary class and two kindergarten classes to instrumental practice through various percussion and small instruments. In parallel, a group of 18 young amateur violinists "Les Petits violons des Calanques" who practice every lunchtime within the elementary school since March 2016, under the impetus of the CIQ Les hauts de Mazargues La Cayolle has also integrated the project.

The electro-acoustic workshop with the Collège Roy d'Espagne allowed the realization of an electro-acoustic tape with the students of a class of 5th grade realized with a sound corpus (sounds collected on the district and corpus proposed by the composer).

The aim of the voice workshop was to initiate the inhabitants of the neighborhood who wished to do so to the various techniques of the voice and to singing. It is the most "free" workshop of the project since it does not require any prerequisite. They took place 3 times a month on Tuesday evenings at the Maison de quartier de la Cayolle.
The CBarré ensemble associated with the GMEM, added to the orchestra's cast by a trio of these musicians (percussions, mandolin and cello.)

Internships

The schoolchildren were also mobilized for two weeks of musical training and rehearsal (in March and May). These times are an opportunity for the children to familiarize themselves with the work, to get to know the musical tale and to gradually meet the artistic team (conductor, professional musicians of Cbarré)
