Research and creation residency

River Feedback is a live audiovisual performance by Julie Rousse (sound creation) and Cyril Laucournet (video creation) conceived to be played outdoors, near the Rhône River, promoting the necessity of the sensitive experience of the river in a global ecological awareness.
The challenge of this artistic creation is to capture the salient elements of the river that give it a personality of its own, both through sound recording and video image.

The Rhone is the most powerful and industrialized river in Europe, the ecological upheavals we are experiencing will weaken it and force its residents, inhabitants, industries, communities to build a new relationship to this river space so as to accompany the changes to come. The fleuve, considered as a living entity is present in the form of a multitude with a complex and organic entanglement whose voice is made body by the superposition of the different strata of sounds recorded on the Rhone, which come to intermingle and respond to each other in a pregnant and acousmatic space, where will cross fieldrecordings, specialized captations, takes of speech according to fluctuations of data (DATA) compiled and / or received in real time.

In a scenic device implementing projection on screens and sound multidiffusion, the spectators are invited to share this immersive experience, defianting time and space, to get out of the exclusively utilitarian relationship to the river and reconsider our relationship to the living. In the center, the two performers manipulate sounds, experiments and videos, playing with the sound and visual material recorded on the Rhone, the result of an exploration from the delta in the Camargue to the source at the Furka Pass in Switzerland.
