Residency for the creation of the soundtrack

And the work was is a documentary punctuated by globalization and the digital revolution. Its soundtrack tells and experiments with the progressive dematerialization of our lives: from real sounds, the composer and his computer create an electronic melody in duet, offering the future of work a dreamlike dimension and the film a metaphorical language.

To do this, Juan Aramburu explores two different axes. First, an acousmatic axis, by orchestrating the sounds present in the filmed images, which gives a musicality and a melodic echo to the sound effects and the ordinary sounds of a sequence. Then, to bounce back on the subject of the dematerialization of work, he elaborates a virtual instrument - LéCS (Logique électronique Compositrice de Son) - whose algorithm analyzes the voice of the characters and gives a hierarchy to the frequencies most present in this voice to create a scale. In this way, it is the computer that partly dematerializes the composer.

The metaphorical dimension of the film will be progressively deployed thanks to the electronic music composed by Juan Aramburu, with the counterpoint of a traditional Vietnamese string instrument, the Dan Tranh.

After having gone to the film's shooting locations to record the sounds, sound effects and voices that characterize them, it is now a matter of composing the music from this material and the sounds of the edited film, to process and orchestrate them so that they come to life and become the soundtrack.
