Alessandro Bosetti's voice retraces a lost segment of his childhood. He sings the diary written by his mother in 1978 during a sailing trip in the Atlantic, also marking the separation from her family and her young children. A vocal calligraphy that faithfully follows the mother's voice in the form of a musical monodrama, also performed by three musicians on stage. An ultimately autobiographical piece that delves into the memory and intimacy of the voice, leaving the audience charmed and enchanted.

The composer and sound artist Alessandro Bosetti presents an autobiographical work. It is the logbook of his mother who, in 1978, begins a long journey on a sailboat from Gibraltar to the Canary Islands, a journey that is also the beginning of her separation from her family.

It is a handwritten narrative divided into twenty chapters - one for each day of sailing - in which we talk about dolphins, flying fish, sudden storms and the imposed watches for the turns at the helm. The composer retraces the itinerary of the journal and the voyage with his own voice, working on the borderline between spoken language and song, but also choosing the form of a lyrical monodrama inspired by oriental theater and radio fiction.

On stage: Alessandro Bosetti, clarinet, guitar, percussion and live electronics accompany the audience in the discovery of the text, immersing them in this journey of the senses. At the same time, it is a travel itinerary, a memory factory, and an interpretation crossed with a reappropriated autobiographical testimony. While the musical piece is in Italian, the projected text is translated and intended to guarantee the complete comprehensibility of the narrative in other countries. A French and an English version are planned from the beginning.

Alessandro Bosetti creates a work of musical theater an ambitious and intimate work at the same time which will be completed in 2018 and accompanied by the delegated production of the GMEM.
Following a first time of residency having taken place in March 2017, "Journal de Bord - January 1978 - 1st stage" was presented at the Joliette-Minoterie theater in Marseille on May 18, 2017. This stage of creation was part of the programming of the festival Les Musiques organized by the GMEM. This stage of work presented the result of a work of composition and setting in music. It represented a sketch of the concretization of the meeting between the musicians Alexandre Babel and Carol Robinson, with the poetic and voluble universe of Alessandro Bosetti.

This first public presentation foreshadows the finished work, which will be presented in 2018. With the involvement of these three artists, Kenta Nagaï's classy and delicate guitar playing will concretize the work in its finality and lead to its final form.
