These workshops are part of the "Awareness and Initiation" program devised by the gmem to enable schoolchildren to explore the field of creative music (contemporary, experimental, electroacoustic or electronic).
The program is divided into several phases over the school year, with the aim of providing students with the keys to listening and understanding, as well as awakening their artistic sensibilities. Each stage of the program brings a complementary element to the discovery of contemporary creation. It can be adapted to suit the needs of each school and the approach of its teaching teams.
The gmem offers students the chance to spend half a day in its studios, discovering the production methods involved in creating music. Through improvisation and the manipulation of sound objects, participants are encouraged to explore the different worlds of electroacoustic, electronic and experimental music.
Using concrete and synthetic sounds, as well as the misuse of instruments, students are introduced to collective musical creation, and to listening through electroacoustic technologies (spatialization and sound transformation in particular).

Charles Bascou is a composer, computer music designer and researcher, living in Marseille since 2004.
