Creation residency
Heidi was a musical performance or sound environment interacting with a video animation adapted to the architecture of the venue, in the manner of a large-scale mobile digital painting made up of degenerate signs on the borders of abstraction.
Unable to decide between sound and image, which to accompany or direct, Heidi's music also varied according to context and time, and was organized around the already classic set: live laptops - big sound system - video projection.
Encouraged to reactivate this old project and pseudonym, the duo Gaillard & Claude has been invited to take up residency at the GMEM to propose a new version based on the same principle and specifically produced in continuity with the exhibition, curated by Michel François and produced by the Center, Des choses vraies qui font semblant d'être des faux semblants presented at La Friche from November 12, 2021 to February 13, 2022.
The performance will include a new musical composition played live and an animation, this time based on the artists' lexicon: a literature produced by and for their practice.
Heidi was presented at the I.D.E.A.L festival, the CAPC in Bordeaux, the Hô-Chi-Minh Fine Arts Museum (Vietnam), the Château de Keriolet, the Accès festival in Pau, the Ménagerie de Verre in Paris and the ENSBA in Bourges between 2003 and 2005.
Gaillard & Claude produce pictorial and sculptural works, editions, music and various creative projects. From complex, unusual and multi-reflective formal compositions to historical archive documents, they give pride of place to abstract and/or social ensembles. With a dry sense of humor, they question the presence of norms and standards in everyday life, contemporary language, group dynamics and their modes of representation.
