"The double bass is a path, on which I walk, my feet in the earth, in the pebbles, in the heights of the trees.
Listening to the sound, I play. I play as one works to say.
When the music is there, there is sound. Precisely, as much as I push it to exist from my instrument.
I live with it, one hand clinging to the clouds, the other clinging to the sudden creaking of things that sound.
Invisible walls. I make these walls audible.
I play towards the mountains invented by composers.
Standing in their storms."
- Charlotte Testu

"Charlotte Testu is one of those performers who speak to you with an intensity made up of passion and discretion, then grab their instrument, prepare their gesture and suddenly disappear with the sound they produce. Charlotte Testu is a young performer who doesn't play an instrument, but inhabits it and transcends it to make it a servant of music.
As a member of the C Barré ensemble associated with the GMEM, it was only natural for us to invent this women's program around Kaija Saariaho's piece Folia, and to commission three pieces from three women, three new worlds for four dreams".
- Christian Sebille, director of the GMEM.
