A "murmuration" refers to a flock of birds. This phenomenon of collective intelligence—a sort of mega-organism—is an aerial ballet performed by tens of thousands of birds, which, at sunset, launch into a breathtaking dance.
Lorenzo Naccarato’s music is cinematic, with the concept of movement at the heart of his approach as a composer and his technique as a pianist. He subjects his performance to the atmospheric and unpredictable laws of his machines, which redraw the sky of a potential journey.
Drawing inspiration from the many ways in which birds move and inhabit a space, Lorenzo Naccarato has created a new musical instrument—the “cassette piano”—by combining his upright piano with a small ensemble of cassette players and a modified turntable.
With *Murmurations*, pianist and composer Lorenzo Naccarato presents a unique and original concept for a musical tour: following the same route as a bird migration, covering 10,000 km, from northern Germany to Senegal.

Lorenzo Naccarato
Pianist and composer
Lorenzo Naccarato is a Franco-Italian pianist and composer, born in 1989. Born in Cayenne and with roots in southern Italy, he retains a love for spice in both music and cuisine. After an introduction to classical piano, he pursued a university degree in musicology in Toulouse, where he conducted a research project on silence in the music of Thelonious Monk. Recorded at the Cinémathèque de Toulouse, his debut album was released in 2016 on the Laborie Jazz label. With his second album, Nova Rupta, released in 2018, he continued his exploration of cinematic music and toured extensively in France and internationally. Between 2020 and 2024, he collaborated with Toulouse-based singer Manu Galure on his shows Vertumne andJ’ai dormi près d’un arbre.
Since 2020, he has devoted himself to Murmurations, a musical project for solo piano and cassette recorders, and has shifted toward an evolving style of music that straddles the boundaries of several genres (jazz, classical, lo-fi, minimalist). — www.lorenzonaccarato.com
