Electroacoustic compositions on experimental short films.
This screening is the culmination of work carried out during the seminar on experimental film and sound composition, organized this year by the GMEM's Plateforme*.
Nine experimental films are presented, made between 1924 and the present day, by filmmakers from different continents, representing different schools and approaches to experimental cinema.
Seminar participants created electroacoustic compositions taking into account film elements such as themes, textural relationships, plasticity, film-music complementarity, synchronicities...
In this seminar, students explored general concepts of the film-music relationship, focusing on experimental films that place particular emphasis on music and sound composition. Based on the analysis of the tools used for composition, the didactic approach is based on two main axes: the technological dimension of musical/sound composition for experimental cinema, and the extra-musical analysis of the themes addressed in the films.
