An iconic work of American minimalism, Steve Reich’s *City Life*evokes an urban landscape built from the sounds of New York—sirens, voices, car horns, and everyday noises—in a score written for a musical ensemble and pre-recorded sounds.
Students from the École Nationale de Danse de Marseille, along with students from the Aix-Marseille University Orchestra and the Pierre Barbizet Conservatory in Marseille, will perform the score live, in harmony with a choreography created by the ENDM’s teaching staff and dancers.
Combining immersive sound, choreography, and collective performance, City Life paintsa vibrant portrait of the modern city.

Instrumental ensemble
In January 2015, Aix-Marseille University established a symphony orchestra to help promote the university and perform at major events organized by the institution. Since 2021, following years of fruitful collaboration in terms of logistical and human support with the Pierre Barbizet National Conservatory with Regional Reach (CNRR) in Marseille, the two institutions decided to join forces, naming the symphony orchestra "OSAMU & Co." Under the direction of Marseille-based conductor Sébastien Boin, OSAMU & Co brings together students and staff from all departments of the university, as well as students and staff from the conservatory, recruited at the highest level to perform the great symphonic repertoire and contribute to its enrichment through the programming of contemporary works. OSAMU & Co currently has 80 members. —www.osamu-co.com
