In Fame, Julia Robert explores the abyss of celebrity through the example of icons who have always been with her. A disturbing performance in which the destinies of extraordinary personalities, from David Bowie to Nina Simone, are intertwined with an intimate reflection on the vertigo of fame. It is a performance in every sense of the word. Multidisciplinary artist Julia Robert uses her body, her voice and her viola to question the notion of celebrity, a question that has pursued her since she was very young for obvious homonymic reasons.
As soon as she appears on the set, the confusion sets in. In a burst of stroboscopic images, a diva looking like Marilyn strikes a series of poses, before confiding in the audience. Who is she? Through her own transformation over the course of the show, Julia Robert seeks to represent the dark side and the madness of the desire for celebrity. In order to embody them, she gathers personalities with fiery backgrounds who answer each other and who have intimately marked her life. Playing with the multiplicity of characters, she intertwines Jimi Hendrix and Maria Callas, slips into the skin of Julia Roberts and Nina Simone, interprets a David Bowie hit, questions the notoriety of a Charles Manson... In a form of ritual, she sculpts her character through these different icons by not trying to imitate them, but on the contrary to live through them. This is where the success of the show lies, in the meeting between a material that is both very worked, shaped and the singular universe of an artist who digs the buried part of the glory. A mise en abyme that plunges us into a whirlwind of emotions.

Julia Robert
performance, design, augmented viola & singing
At first glance, Julia Robert's work escapes description.
Leaping from a new music string quartet (Quatuor Impact) to a transdisciplinary solo performance(Fame 2021), leaving to form a duo with Charliebeatbox that will lead to a show(Exit, concert 2023; performative 2024), taking the time in passing to integrate an Orchestra of New Musical Creations Experiments and Improvisations (O.N.C.E.I.M) and to become artistic director of her structure (Compagnie Leidesis), she composes(alètheia - solo viola d'amore and singing, 2023; sound creation ofDaté.e.s by Pol Pi, 2020), she joins stage productions(Ce qui demeure by Élise Chatauret, 2016; Knit by Marine Mane, 2022).
"It's a bit risky," she warns, "because with each creation, it seems like I go from one thing to another. In reality, from one to the next, I have the same desire to shake people up, to confront myself with materials and to offer the public other ways of listening."
If it is difficult to grasp her at first, it is because her work is precisely in the transformation itself.
