Rehearsals for the Joint Adventure concert for 6 singers and 8 instrumentalists
The Ensemble C Barré joins the Neue Vocalsolisten of Stuttgart to create a program with 4 new works specially commissioned to young composers for our singular formations. We will highlight young creation with Birke Bertelsmeier (Germany, 1981), Augustin Braud (France, 1994), Mikel Urquiza (Spain, 1988), Anna Korsun (Ukraine, 1986), who will compose pieces of ensemble and chamber music with a maximum of 6 singers and 8 instrumentalists.
Mikel Urquiza and Birke Bertelsmeier are currently in residence with the Ensemble C Barré, which implies that we will commission them over a period of three years to write works in different formats (ensemble music, chamber music, with voices, scenic...). Thanks to this partnership with the Neue Vocalsolisten of Stuttgart, we plan that their two creations for 6 voices and ensemble will be the centerpieces of the next two monographic CDs of the Ensemble C Barré, devoted to the music of Mikel Urquiza (2021) and Birke Bertelsmeier (2022). Our Franco-German complicity with the Neue Vocalsolisten will bring a prestigious dimension to these monographs, as well as a certain guarantee of quality. These tools will contribute to the promotion of the composers' careers and will also strengthen our work in concert promotion.

Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart
vocal ensemble
The Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart is a contemporary vocal ensemble, working with specialist ensembles and radio orchestras, opera houses, independent theaters, electronic studios, festival organizers and concert organizers of modern music in Europe. The Neue Vocalsolisten - an ensemble for contemporary vocal music founded in 1984 as part of Musik der Jahrhunderte - has been an artistically independent vocal chamber music ensemble since 2000.
The seven soloists, ranging from coloratura soprano to countertenor and deep bass, bring their creative power to bear on their chamber music work in collaboration with the composers and other performers.
A group of specialized singers completes the core team, depending on the cast. Research is at the center of their interests, searching for new tonalities, new vocal techniques and forms of articulation; dialogue with composers has a prominent place. Each year, they ensure the creation of nearly 20 new works. Opera and interdisciplinary work involving electronics, video, visual arts and literature are part of the group's artistic project, as are collages that contrast elements of early and modern music.
