GMEM joins the Phonurgia Nova Awards, 29th edition!
International competition for radio and sound creation

The Phonurgia Nova Awards are an observatory of emerging sound creation. Once a year, with the help of a number of European partners, they identify and honor authors-authors who explore the real and imaginary of sound, highlighting exceptional creations.

Radio, with its microphones and tape recorders, has emerged alongside the camera as a technology for directly "capturing" reality. The awards instituted by phonurgia nova encourage these captures and invite us to make works with and through sound, affirming the power of sound staging. Sounds collected, emitted, transmitted, exhibited... voices consigned, erased, recorded, archived, diverted... on radio but also on new online media. Radio or podcast? All durations, all subjects, all genres, all forms are welcome "as long as the listening goes further".

Since 1986, Sophie Cerda, Dominique Fargeot, Dominique Petitgand, Chantal Dumas, Bernadette Johnson, Hanna Hartman, Alessandro Bosetti, Sébastien Dicenaire, Joaquin Cofreces, and even Félix Blume and Sophie Berger have graced these successive competitions, while the list of newcomers revealed each year continues to grow and surprise us. The 28 prize-winners together form a sonotheque of audacity and freedom of writing, across all genres, in an eclecticism that reflects the diversity of contemporary creation. Following in the footsteps of past editions, the 2024 jury will be honoring these authors who push back the frontiers of listening to the world and to others.

Entries are open in five categories: archives de la parole, fiction sonore, art sonore, field recording, Prix découvertes Pierre Schaeffer "jeunes talents".
The deadline for entries is midnight (CET) July 31.
