- Description of the association

GMEM - Centre national de création musicale was founded in 1972 by a group of composers. It was awarded the Centre National de Création Musicale label in 1997. Its missions are defined in a set of specifications issued by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, and are based on the production of musical creation, its dissemination and transmission. 

Christian Sebille, composer and founder of the Césaré national center for musical creation in Reims, was appointed Director in 2011. He is inspiring a new artistic project open to all the aesthetics of contemporary musical creation.

Based at the Friche Belle de Mai since 2017, the GMEM accompanies artistic teams, particularly during residencies, produces shows in the field of musical creation, conducts numerous educational, teaching, training and research initiatives and shares all these activities during regular presentations to the public (Propagations festival, Modulations season, concerts, installations, meetings, residency outings...) that punctuate the gmem season.

- Job description 

A team on a human scale, Production is at the heart of the GMEM's general and artistic project. As part of a dynamic structure, the trainee will work in the production department, under the supervision of the production manager and the production director.

You'll be involved in all facets of GMEM productions, from preparation to organization and implementation of the resources needed to bring them to fruition, within a clearly defined budget and timeframe.

Each artistic proposal received at the GMEM - residency, production, dissemination - is unique and requires an adapted set-up. Working alongside the production manager, you'll discover how to take great care of the site and ensure that artistic teams are welcomed and supported in the best possible way. You'll also learn about the challenges involved in ensuring the smooth flow of information to technical teams, artists, the communications department and the administration department, all of which must be deployed by the production team.

This internship will enable you to take an active part in the 2025 edition of the Propagations Festival, to be held from May 2 to 12. From its organization upstream, to its full exploitation, then to operations downstream. At the same time, you'll experience the day-to-day life of a musical creation structure, with residencies, hosting of shows - Les Modulations - and educational workshops, among other events and collaborations that you'll help to facilitate.

- Entrusted activities

Participation in the analysis and coordination of GMEM production resources
Participate in drawing up residency agreements and assist in drafting assignment contracts;
Participate in budget management;
Participate in billing management;
Participate in the organization of schedules and reception conditions, transport, catering and accommodation, for rehearsals and residencies via the Heeds software;
Participate in the preparation of declarations and requests for authorizations linked to shows and declarations to authors' societies (SACEM / SACD...), and insurers; Participate in the preparation of declarations and requests for authorizations linked to shows and declarations to authors' societies (SACEM / SACD...), and insurers.), and insurers;
Participate in the monitoring and follow-up of the general schedule of activities of the GMEM - Centre national de création musicale (residencies, rehearsals, concerts);
Participate in the hosting of events in collaboration with the entire GMEM team;
Participate in grant applications to civil societies and other potential funders;
Assist in the search for new public-private funding linked to the Production division;

Participate in information gathering and internal and external communication
Participate in gathering and relaying information on productions to artists and the GMEM team;
Participate in maintaining the GMEM calendar of residencies and events, and in creating events on Heeds.

- Profile description

Minimum education BAC+2 at the start of the school year in September 2024 in cultural project management administration or equivalent;
Dynamic, motivated, diligent;
Practice of standard IT tools. Mac environment at GMEM;
Knowledge of Google Suite;
Knowledge of regulatory procedures related to the hiring of artists and/or national and international contracts;
Knowledge of regulations related to the performing arts: social and tax legislation, safety regulations, commercial law, intellectual property...

- Course conditions

Gratification légale en vigueur ;
Period of internship envisaged : from January to the end of June 2025 ;
Location : Marseille, Friche la Belle de Mai and, other venues linked to the GMEM's artistic and cultural programming;
Occasional presence at events in the evenings and weekends, with the exception of the festival period when weekday, weekend and evening presence is required;
