Émergence is a listening event devoted to new writing by students in composition classes at the Pierre Barbizet Conservatory and the Cité de la Musique de Marseille.
Under the pedagogical direction of four professors - Loïse Bulot, Jean-Luc Gergonne, Terence Meunier and François Wong - and guest composer Pom Bouvier-b., the students' electroacoustic creations are spatialized on an orchestra of loudspeakers.
This unprecedented device enables precise, immersive sound projection. It offers a listening context where everyone can find their own time and place: lying, standing, static, moving... in the open air, at the Convent, in the midst of the city's rustle.
As a breeding ground for musical creation, Émergence broadens the horizons of tomorrow's music.

Pom Bouvier-b
Musical artist
Pom Bouvier-b. imagines singular sonic spaces where intimate and shared perceptions are solicited. Her multiple-form propositions are physical and mental experiments in search of intertwined dialogues at the heart of the invisible and indefinite territories of between, with fragility, permanent collapse and the annihilation of duration. The ways in which she shares with the public are part of her research and provoke experimentation with new forms.
Since 2015, she has responded to several commissions for mixed electroacoustic pieces (GMEM / Alcôme / GMEA) that question the modalities of writing and the relationship to space. She collaborates extensively with choreographers, performers and other artists and collectives on projects in which experience is asserted as a form of writing and elaboration (William Petit / Mathilde Monfreux...). For several years now, she has been exploring the experimental and improvised scene in France and abroad (with C-IME canopée Improvisation Musique Ensemble, Patricia Dallio, Sébatien Bouhana, Catherine Jauniaux...). She performs in France and abroad (Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Brussels, Rotterdam, Berlin, Oulu, Rio de Janeiro, Bamako...).
Marc Chuzeville-Banel
Composer
Mainly self-taught, Marc is a musician who supplements his intuitions, experiences and personal experiments with electroacoustic training in Montreal and currently at the Marseille Conservatoire with Jean-Luc Gergonne. Just 19, the young composer explores both the inspiration of the instruments he plays and the sonic vagaries that catch his ear.
Jessy Dulheuer Bliah
Composer
Jessy Dulheuer Bliah was born in 1991 and has lived in Marseille since 2018.
She practices singing, improvisation (voice, objects), and studies electroacoustic composition at the Marseille Conservatory. Holder of a DUMI diploma, she leads music workshops for a variety of audiences.
Mélanie Gentilhomme
Composer
Mélanie writes. For herself. For others. Then she became interested in the world of sound. So she tried her hand at linking words to sound, to find musicality, rhythm and the awakening of emotions. She is currently studying electroacoustics at the Marseille Conservatoire.
Arthur James
Composer
Arthur James encountered a modular synthesizer in 2018. From then on, his practice shifted towards improvised, raw and organic live music, leaving a great deal to indeterminacy. In 2022, he joined the electroacoustic class at the Marseilles Conservatoire to try and translate his concerns into recorded sounds.
Juliette Liautaud
Composer
Juliette Liautaud develops her research at the crossroads of photography, film and music. Since 2022, she has been deepening her curiosity for sound in the electroacoustic class at Marseille's Pierre Barbizet Conservatory. Attuned to discrete phenomena, she is particularly interested in the porosity of landscapes, both surveyed and mental, as well as in the reversibility of places, images and sounds.
Juliette Chartier
Composer
Juliette Chartier defines herself as a "sound tinkerer", at the crossroads of several practices: sound documentary, electroacoustic composition and radio exploration. She works in Marseille and is a member of Copie Carbone, a sound creation collective where she experiments with different ways of making radio (collective creations, ephemeral radios, listening sessions...). Alongside her production and creative work, she regularly runs workshops on sound practices.
Ludovic Coullet
Composer
In a second life, Ludovic Coullet is a student in the electroacoustic composition class at Marseille's Cité de la Musique. Somewhere between his second and third years, he strives to combine a concrete approach with synthesized sounds, hijacking machines more associated with electronic music and EDM.
Arnaud Julien
Composer
After obtaining a degree in musicology and a master's in cultural mediation in Tours, Arnaud Julien worked at GMEM as a pedagogical officer for four years. He also trained as a classical pianist and singer. Passionate about instrumental music and musical creation, he has been involved in electroacoustic music for several years. Since October 2022, he has been training in composition and orchestration at the Conservatoire, as well as in electroacoustic composition at the Cité de la Musique in Marseille. Alongside this training, Arnaud Julien takes part in various workshops to introduce and discover experimental music.

Colomba Poggi
Composer
An electroacoustic student at the Cité de la Musique, Colomba studied Fine Arts at the Villa Arson, developing work centered on the relationship between sound and space, mainly through audiovisual installations. She then devoted herself to musical creation and the sound arts, joining a master's program co-directed by Ina GRM and Gustave Eiffel University. Today, her music is mainly based on improvisation and personal experience.
