Each year, the GMEM invites an associate composer from the program to present his or her creative works and the reference works that have shaped his or her artistic and professional career.

Based on double listening and shared commentary, Écoutes Commentées are special sessions where audiences are invited to discover new music under professional and exceptional conditions.

Imitation(s)
"Music is a biological function that exists in the human species, as well as in some others. François Bernard Mâche

Imitation, whether in a strictly musical sense (canon, fugue, etc.) or from a more general point of view (biomimicry, etc.) can still be a relevant compositional process today.
We no longer hesitate to recognize as music the hum of high-voltage power lines, the white noise of a waterfall or the ultrasonic clicks of chiropterans. In this way, it's a matter of turning the ear outwards, mentally appropriating it as music. Musical interaction with the environment remains in line with the instrumental tradition, even though our relationship with Nature is constantly evolving.
Indeed, certain composers have made this claim more or less clearly: From Jannequin to Kaija Saariaho, or Olivier Messiaen with his ornithological approach.
We also find more or less explicit elements in Gérard Grisey, Tristan Murail and Steve Reich.
Can so-called "acousmatic" composition also maintain another form of relationship with the living, following the example of Francois Bernard Mâche?
This question, of course, raises many questions in the fields of musicology, biology and philosophy.
And can we still rely today on the famous Nature/Culture dialectic so dear to the Western conception of the world?
